national assembly

Assemblea nazionale Vogliamo tutt’altro

immaginare / organizzare / convergere / insorgere

Short Theatre 2025, in convergence with the national assembly Vogliamo tutt’altro and other artistic collectives and organisations, hosts a day of studies and self-education on the themes of artistic labour and cultural policies. The initiative draws on the directions suggested by recent mobilisations that are reshaping the field of art and culture, in light of the current upheavals affecting the performing arts sector in Italy and across Europe.

In addition to welcoming the national public assembly called for September 8 in the spaces of La Pelanda, the programme will include thematic working groups, the participation of the Taring Padi artist collective—thanks to the collaboration with Cantadora Gallery—and a session of CLASSE: Bojana Kunst e il lato oscuro dell’arte.

On the occasion of the national assembly, and during their residency in Rome curated by Cantadora, the collective Taring Padi will install and activate the banner الشعوب عدالة / People’s Justice (2024), which will be made visible again on 12 September on the occasion of they shoot horses by Phil Collins.

This collective banner is the culmination of a heartfelt journey of learning, working and love between Taring Padi and the collectives The Kitchen, Globe Aroma, Learning Palestine, Subversive Film and The Question of Funding. At its core, a century old olive tree symbolises the steadfastness, dignity and hope that give meaning to the Palestinian struggle for liberation. Nestled within the womb of the olive tree lay the generations who will continue the struggle for Palestinian freedom, from the river to the sea.

Amidst the martyrs who have perished in the long road to liberation, the underground roots weave Palestine into a tapestry coloured by the legacies and entanglements of global decolonisation struggles. The Palestinian struggle is ours.
