La Pelanda – Teatro 2
“Why are You Here?” is the first of many questions exchanged by two “lieutenants” who find themselves on a podium. Elementary questions, of even poorer conversations, but if taken into consideration, as is done here, crevasses are sure to break open on the ever-sure surfaces of their daily lives. The habit of daily things suddenly ends up in the turbine of radical doubt and persuasive logic, imposed by the two themselves, taking on an irony that urges honesty. The two are “lieutenants” or “luogotenenti” (in Italian) because they simply preside over a place they been put in, a symbol of firmness regarding their chore of defending the logic of their reasoning. The only motor, around which everything revolves, is the continues generation of questions unsatisfied by sketchy responses, including those offered by religion, which is a sort of science of the definitive. The skeptical and mournful nature of the dialogue flows back into a sea of comic perplexity.
Perché sei qui? is the third part of the series Il Regno Profondo by Claudia Castellucci, after La Vita delle Vite and Dialogo degli Schiavi.
