Christelle Oyiri, aka Crystallmess, is a Franco-Guadalupian-Ivorian multidisciplinary artist: music producer, DJ, writer and performer. She grew up in the world of clubbing, her sonic world moving from percussive zouk to dancehall and then onto afro-trance and Detroit techno. She is a resident at NTS Radio and part of the roster of SHAPE artists. In 2018 she self-released her debut EP ‘Mere Noises’, followed a year later with a collaborative EP on PAN Records.
Her work opens up to listening to forgotten mythologies, the cracks between memory and colonial alienation, DIY culture and technology. Driven by radical energy and fantasmatic Afrofuturism, her personal approach to club music is rigorous, global and diasporic.
Melodic techno, afro-trance, abrasive dancehall and experimental electronics meet in her sets and productions, giving life to poly-rhythmic eclectic paths. At Short Theatre 2021 they will resonate around the Pelanda Open Space.
