“In Echo Dance of Furies, we consider anatomical ex-votos, ancient votive statuettes with a high symbolic value. They endured the passage of time without any division between paganism and Christianity. Specific body parts are reproduced disconnected from an invisible whole and carrying a silent narrative in which pain and fear shape the desire for redemption.
The fear embedded in the ex-voto awakens pre-individual time and the ancestral memory of instinct, which guides gestures towards salvation and weaves the choreography of alertness.”
Dewey Dell is a dance and performing arts company active since 2006. It is composed of Teodora Castellucci, Agata Castellucci, Vito Matera and musician Demetrio Castellucci. Their choreographic research is often inspired by art history and the behaviours of the animal kingdom, boldly confronting ancient archetypes and narrative frames. Dewey Dell created many works – often in collaboration with other artists that intersect and experiment with different art forms – and presented them worldwide. In 2023, their show “Le Sacre du Printemps” won the DANZA&DANZA award for Best Italian Production.
