So as not to extinguish the intensity sparked by Fred Moten‘s poetic word, we leave the velvet curtains of the Teatro Argentina and meet on the EXP dancefloor, in a long wave that will struggle to fade away and will accompany us until the end of the festival. The preview of Short Theatre 2023 continues with an Opening Party in one of the places in the city where contemporary art and nightlife meet every day.
Setting our currents in mutual vibration will be DJ BLCKEBY and the evening’s special guest, Marseilles-based DJ Mystique, to accelerate the blending that makes bodies resonate and raise the temperature of the forthcoming days together.
∴
Based in Marseille, a “riddim taped” DJ, Mystique whips up south of France’s dancefloors and distributes automatic rates of fire / high speed cadences. In the club or on radio waves (Rinse France & Ola Radio), she becomes fascinated by the rich culture of sound systems and Latino, Afro-Caribbean and Arabic diasporas around the world. Between popular melodies and hybrid aesthetics, each of her sets celebrates Southern hemisphere’s best soundtracks, too often mistakenly stigmatized and missing from line-ups.

BLCKEBY dj set
BLCKEBY (blæki:bɔɪ), moniker of 1991-born producer and DJ Marco Diamubeni, will open Short Theatre 2023 party.
When it comes to the dancefloor, putting his vision of music into a specific category would be limiting: his passionate research and infinite curiosity, mixed with an unconventional taste and an ear for the most unusual trends have led him to select records at various Roman nightlife parties, such as Circolo degli Illuminati, Goa Club, and festivals across Italy, Spring Attitude Festival, Manifesto, Pinewood Festival, Short Theatre Festival, Frammenti Festival, Atlantico Festival, SOMEWHERE Festival, Sundance Sunday, as well as signing appearances on several national and international radio shows, from Radio Raheem, to RBL Torino, NEU Radio, Hotel Radio Paris (fr), Radio Relativa (esp), Quantica Radio (prtgl).
Currently host of Radio Sugo, an ‘independent music broadcasting channel’ based in Rome, Marco has taken up a radio residency on 1020 Radio, a Bristol (uk) web radio station, with his radioshow I must be elsewhere from 2020 to 2023.
