Lara Khaldi, Noor Abed / LOCALES
School of Intrusions
workshop
September 14 | 12:00–5:00 pm
La Pelanda – Studio 1
The workshop is aimed at everyone and will be in English. A familiarity with the language is therefore helpful.
On September 14, Short Theatre – in collaboration with If Body, the public program curated by LOCALES – hosts a workshop led by School of Intrusions, an experimental pedagogical platform born in Palestine under the helm of artist Noor Abed and curator Lara Khaldi.
The school aims to develop temporary collaborative spaces through moments of collective learning, opening itself to experience-based pedagogical methodologies that focus on situated knowledge, anti-colonial practices, and alternative economic models. On September 14, the workshop will take as its starting point the forms of solidarity between the Italian and Palestinian artistic and cultural contexts, particularly through the use of video, focusing on the projection of archive films – some of which are from the Archivio Audiovisivo del Movimento Operaio e Democratico (AAMOD) in Rome – which will be screened and analysed together with the artists to activate a dialogue on the forms of resistance that the audiovisual medium has conveyed between Palestine and Italy.
School of Intrusions encroaches actively upon public and private space with the belief that place, time, knowledge, and tradition are resources that belong to everybody.
Lara Khaldi, Noor Abed will also be present at Short Theatre 2024 with the talk School of Intrusions.
The workshop is free of charge and will be in English. To participate, you must register by sending an e-mail to localesproject@gmail.com. Applications will be considered until 4 September depending on availability.
