With Variazione No.1, Sorelle di damiano propose an attempt at resistance to narrative, to the search for meaning — sought all too eagerly in the reading of a performative action. The work explores the liminal relationship between body and sound, in which the sonic score of a synthesiser meets a decisive and dynamic dance. This production challenges the idea of a linear and accessible narrative, bringing to the surface the essence of human experience without the need for a story to unravel or a theme to confront, offering reality for what it IS.

Sorelle di damiano is a Milan-based performance duo founded by Sofia Pazzocco and Simona Tedeschini, following their studies at the Civica Paolo Grassi. Sorelle di damiano places at the centre of its research the body, sound and space as objects of reflection on contemporaneity. A material, non-narrative body that expresses its own potency through articular quality and the management of the surrounding environment. A gaze turned towards the perception of the other, attentive to the relationship with sound, explores forms of irony useful for exorcising certain themes such as unease, inadequacy and ambiguity. Their works take shape as a social, intersectional and political dialogue, aiming to create openings for reflection — open questions about the discomforts of the contemporary.
