Annalisa Metta e il selvatico climatizzato

CLASSE

CLASSE is a project of transmission, compromise, blending and mixing, invented pedagogies and radical imagination. CLASSE is a space for words and thoughts that combines a public programme with the creation of an ongoing working group, moving through the Short Theatre 2026’s programme and beyond.

Every day for 10 days, artists, poets, activists, philosophers and researchers are invited to give a short talk starting from a specific word / issue / practice. Discover all the other appointments that constitute the public programme of CLASSE.

Annalisa Metta‘s interests lie in investigating the relationships between landscape design and ideas of nature, through the oscillations and contradictions between wild and domestic, spontaneous and designed, co-agency and control. On this particular occasion, she looks at vegetation and its acclimatisations, from a biological and political, ethical and aesthetic perspective. What do plants tell us about humans and about our way of being in the world and making world?

Annalisa Metta teaches Landscape Architecture at the Università degli Studi di Roma Tre. In 2007 she was among the founding partners of the design studio OSA, with which she has signed numerous award-winning and published projects. She has carried out research activity in Italy and abroad and, in 2016–2017, won the Italian Fellowship at the American Academy in Rome. She is the author of installations and temporary gardens, including In stato di grazia, with Felice Cimatti (Maddaloni, 2025) and Every 9 days, with Luca Catalano, in the group exhibition Regeneration (Rome, 2022). Her books include Coltiviamo il nostro giardino (DeriveApprodi, 2019), Wild & The City: landscape architecture for lush urbanism (Libria, 2020), Alberi! 30 frammenti di storia d’Italia (Marsilio Arte, 2022), and Il paesaggio è un mostro. Città selvatiche e nature ibride (DeriveApprodi, 2022). In 2026 she is co-director of the III Biennale dello Stretto, with Alfonso Femia and Salima Naji. Since 2025 she has been President of IASLA – Società Scientifica Italiana di Architettura del Paesaggio.
