Marco Baravalle e l’arte oltre la cattura

CLASSE

CLASSE is a project of transmission, compromise, blending and mixing, invented pedagogies and radical imagination. CLASSE is a space for words and thoughts that combines a public programme with the creation of an ongoing working group, moving through the Short Theatre 2026’s programme and beyond.

Every day for 10 days, artists, poets, activists, philosophers and researchers are invited to give a short talk starting from a specific word / issue / practice. Discover all the other appointments that constitute the public programme of CLASSE.

Marco Baravalle‘s research focuses on the critical analysis of art and curatorship in contemporary capitalism, and on forms of autonomous, alter-institutional and decolonial organisation in the artistic field.

Marco Baravalle is a researcher, curator and activist. He is the author of The Battleground of Art. Radical Curating in The Crisis Of Neoliberalism (Verso Books, 2026). He is a member of Sale Docks, an activist collective and space for the arts in Venice. Co-founder of the Institute of Radical Imagination (IRI), an international project bringing together activists, artists, curators and researchers working at the intersection of art and the commons. He has published a monograph in Italian, L’autunno caldo del curatore. Arte, neoliberismo, pandemia (Marsilio, 2021). He has co-edited two collective volumes: Art For UBI (Manifesto) (Bruno, 2022) and Art For Radical Ecologies (Manifesto) (Bruno, 2024). He has curated dozens of exhibitions and projects with both well-known and lesser-known artists.
