The 2026 edition of Short Theatre opens in the vegetation of the Orto Botanico di Roma, gathering performances, sound rituals and acts of listening into a single, sudden atmospheric event that upends the climate and makes space for an idea of nature that is artificial, psychedelic and epidermic.

The festival has an environmental vocation — not particularly obsessed with the schedule of shows, but open to experiments, places and times that step outside the grammars of production and spill over into extra spaces.

The Orto Botanico hosts a flow of vegetal and human animal bodies that seem to choose a dimension of strangeness in order to favour every possible resonance with the surrounding environment, to evoke the wild and the festive, and the humidity of feeling.

Traversal is crucial here — allowing oneself to be distracted by proliferation, finding intimacy in a greenhouse and in a clearing.
