Taquitojocoque x Short Theatre 2026

This year, the creation of Short Theatre’s visual world has been entrusted to Taquitojocoque, a queer Mexican artist based in Mexico City.

Somewhere between a cartoon, a sticker album and a child’s diary, Taquitojocoque draws coloured images on sheets of paper, creating panels featuring stylised portraits of famous singers, presidents, imaginary animals, and icons of Western and Mexican pop culture, accompanied by irreverent slogans, puns and political commentary. A playful universe that radically questions the present and unfolds across social media feeds, exhibition galleries, hardback books, shopping bags and street walls.

A Mexican artist and illustrator, Taquitojocoque describes her career as “accidental and sincere” and has been pursuing an artistic practice that experiments with various techniques, fusing pop culture with Mexican cultural heritage. Since 2008 her work has found its place in galleries, museums and cultural institutions across Mexico, Chile, Argentina, Spain and France.
