WEGIL hosts CRATERE, space for cohabitation that manifests itself as a daily flow of poetic words, performances, short lectures, which follow one another at the times indicated day by day. The ticket for CRATERE is daily and grants access to all the performances of the same day that take place one after the other in the scheduled timeframe.
Allison Grimaldi-Donahue, born in the US and now based in Bologna, is a poet, writer and translator.
A Mouth Covering a Mouth: The Women of Gruppo 63 is a performance that will take place in WEGIL’s Hall within the context of CRATERE, with the aim of exploring those cultural genealogies where bodies’ perfomativity coincides with those political demands that still affect the thought and struggles of the present time. In A Mouth Covering a Mouth: The Women of Gruppo 63, blends in the verses by the women of Gruppo 63 – Alice Ceresa, Giulia Niccolai, Patrizia Vicinelli – in the attempt to combine theoretical and historical elements with personal experiences.
In this poetic-performative reading, Allison Grimaldi-Donahue explores the concept of “language as a skin” expressed by French philosopher Roland Barthes, wondering how one can touch and feel through the language – both written and spoken –, reflecting on communication with and without a body, on the possibility of incarnating lost languages, beyond all academic theories.
This work is aimed at the building of a diasporic self able to rescue and embody a long-forgotten past, in favour of a poetics of emotions.
