WEGIL hosts CRATERE, space for cohabitation that manifests itself as a daily flow of poetic words, performances, short lectures, which follow one another at the times indicated day by day. The ticket for CRATERE is daily and grants access to all the performances of the same day that take place one after the other in the scheduled timeframe.
Extragarbo is an artistic and curatorial creation collective that operates in the performing arts. It sprang from the alliance and multidisciplinary collaboration of six artists based in Venice around 2019. And the three members who work together on this particular project still display their different attitudes: Cosimo Ferrigolo is an reuse artist, set designer and lighting designer. Gaia Ginevra Giorgi is a poet, sound-artist and performer while Edoardo Lazzari is an independent curator, translator and educator in the art field.
Rome will be ground zero for a new type of poetic-urban examination that reveals what is visible in the space, translating it into a fresh emotional occult cartography. By means of sound mapping and the poetic translation of fantastic urban archaeology, we want to produce a localizable antitopia, one that dismantles geography considered as a centralised control system,- where the non-neutral role of the observer generates reality.
ACABADABRA takes shape in the CRATERE_WEGIL: where the sounds from the fascist building’s haunted past collide with the clandestine voices of today’s city. Voices capable of profaning the context in which they are recalled, in “Saturnal necromantic form”. The work also takes shape via a collection of sound materials from marginal explorations that are translated into poetic compositions, musical points of departure and peripheral presences. These world-sounds will activate new possible relationships with haunted places, ghostly voices that will overturn the canonical divisions between outside and inside, between centre and periphery.
