WEGIL hosts CRATERE, space for cohabitation that manifests itself as a daily flow of poetic words, performances, short lectures, which follow one another at the times indicated day by day. The ticket for CRATERE is daily and grants access to all the performances of the same day that take place one after the other in the scheduled timeframe.
Wissal Houbabi is an intersectional feminist activist, artist and writer passionate about the hip hop culture and Cultural Studies. She is a founding member of the Trieste-based artistic collective ZufZone. She is the author of Manifesto per l’antisessismo del rap italiano published by EUT and of a research study on “pimpology” in hip hop for PalGrave MacMillan. She collaborates with VICE – Noisey, Jacobin and Agenzia X, and she writes for Future (effequ). Vittorio Zollo is a multi-instrumentalist, singer-songwriter, poet and slammer, soul of the Collettivo Zoopalco active in the research and production of multimedia poetry.
Houbabi e Zollo dive into the crater of CRATERE_WEGIL with a performance “for two bodies and several languages” entitled La Muta, as it is inspired by the process through which birds, animals and reptiles periodically shed their feathers, fur and outer layer.
La Muta is underwater.
La Muta is the collective ecdysis of an unaware common identity.
La Muta is the point of contact between water and land, coastal and internal areas.
La Muta is the meeting of the mermaid with the miner.
La Muta is a lost civilization.
La Muta is the erased memory of a South.
Composed of three parts – immersion, exploration, emergence – La Muta is a journey across an ever-changing human and phonetic landscape: the Mediterranean. Houbabi and Zollo blend rap, hip hop and slam poetry, using voices and rhythm to let the common history of the middle sea emerge.
