Chiara Cecconello
cicalecicale
workshop
September 9–10 | 3:00 — 6:00 pm
Teatro India
The workshop is aimed at people who share an interest and curiosity in working on rhythm and its musical-physical implications. No previous technical expertise is required.
cicalecicale is a workshop focused on bodily and acoustic practices that stemmed from the collaboration between Chiara Cecconello and LAVA – a series of performative practice workshops and a project curated by Sara Zannoni and Zoe Francia Lamattina.
cicalecicale is aimed at all those who wish to explore and experience polyvocality. Imaginative oral techniques are utilised to activate vocals in a dimension of tactile sound that both moves and supports the listener.
The activities proposed will lead the participants to ask themselves: where does my voice come from today? What spaces does it occupy and/or open? How does it move within the body and through space? What other voices does it touch, listen to, or ignore? These questions will guide the activation of listening practices, vocal instant creation, invented languages, and shared songs in the search for singular and collective bodily listening. Different timbres will be explored, through which each voice learns to move and seek possible common vocal spaces.
Chiara Cecconello is also present at Short Theatre 2024 with the performance AGANIS.
The Short Theatre 2024 workshops are free of charge. To participate, you are required to register by sending an e-mail to shorttheatrefestival@gmail.com, indicating in the subject line the title of the workshop and in the body your name, surname, telephone number and a short introduction. Reservations will be accepted subject to availability.
Deadline for registration: August 28
Chiara Cecconello is a sound artist and performer. She trained in both Italy and Germany, combining performance, musical studies and theoretical research at Iuav University (Venice) and the Hochschule für Kunste (Bremen). In 2021 she trained with the Societas group at the Corso di Ritmo Drammatico. She works with Italian and international artists, including Ari Benjamin Meyers, Josephine Baan and Isabel Lewis. She has presented performances in different contexts, such as Errant Sound (Berlin) Festival Catalysi (Teatro Comandini, Cesena), Radio That Matters (Rome), Ocean Space (Venice), BASE (Milan), Musik Installationen Nürnberg (Nürnberg). In her practice, the body is an acoustic territory, an extended ear as well as being a vibrant matter that seeks ways to inhabit the world through the immediacy of sounds. Her works range from performances to sound installations in which the relationships between sounds and places are explored, triggering polyphonies between the audible and the inaudible.
